Umber Aboriginal Art is pleased to present ICON; an exploration of the innovative work from Tommy Watson, Freddie Timms, Naata Nungurrayi, Nurapayia Nampitjinpa (Mrs Bennett), George Tjungurrayi, Esther Giles Nampitjinpa and Barbara Weir.
This revered assemblage of artists from the Central & Western Deserts and the Kimberly region, are celebrated for their foundational contributions to the 21st Century contemporary desert movement. A consideration of culture through colour and refined technique, ICON has been thoughtfully hand curated to include paintings emblematic of their makers. These significant historical and cultural documents transcend time to represent a living dialogue and an intrinsic connection between the landscape and its custodians.
