Yukultji Napangati is the senior female artist of the group written as 'The Last Nomads' considered to be the last family group of the Pintupi to move in from the desert and their traditional life to contact with western ways in 1984. Alongside her artist family members of that group, she is now amongst the most highly sought living exponents of Western Desert Minimalism.
Yukultji Napangati was born around around 1971 in the Gibson Desert at Marawa. Until 1984, Yukultji lived a traditional, nomadic life amongst family whereby she moved into contact with western ways, considered the last group from the Western Desert to do so. Her rythmic works of Marrapinti, use acrylic paint to capture on canvas mythic works of her mothers country. The base colour is overlayed with two tone lines of harmonic beauty.
